Best Exhibitions of 2025
2025 has been an exciting year in the art world. While it has had its challenges, the art world is anything but resilient and creative in its output of exceptional exhibitions. I may not had time to write some reviews, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t reviewed them. Bringing back my ArtSpamFavourites is, in its own way, a review. There have been moments when I think the standard is a little below par, and I do wonder why some galleries have signed on to showcase certain artists, but I put it down to personal taste. Some seem to have hit the nail on the head. Thaddeus Ropac’s show ‘Eva Helene Pade: Søgelys’ was stunning, it was bold, feminist and risky. It was an absolute marvel.
Then you have the showstoppers, the exhibitions that have cost a very pretty penny, time and effort. The ones put on by the big institutions such as the V&A, the British Museum and the Tate. These institutional exhibitions have to be good; they have to have the ‘WOW’ factor to them, and I will admit some of them didn’t disappoint. The landscape of the Art world is forever changing, and you have to change with it or be left behind. But the antithesis is that the general public knows what they like - case in point ‘Cartier’ at the V&A, one of their landmark exhibitions, had rave reviews and sold out in a matter of days.
Some exhibitions have lived rent-free in my mind all year, and that to me is really rather telling - so to round off the year, here are the 10 best exhibitions of 2025.
