5 Female Authors We Love | Romance Edition
Romance fiction is everywhere! It is finally taking centre stage thanks to the likes of Bridgerton, The Other Bennet Sister and, of course, TikTok. If you have been living under a rock the past several years, you’ll know that bookshops are seeing rising sales and saving many from administration, all thanks to a sudden drive and increase in readership. Something we all love to see! I also do think that romance and romantasy have had something to do with it. Sarah J. Maas’s books are hugely popular, and thanks to TikTok or BookTok, the book industry is booming. I have my favourite authors like everyone else, but I have to make a note of who my favourite Romance authors are, and yes, I’m only choosing 5… right now. I might do a part 2 with more recs.
Let me know in the comments your favourite romance authors ;)
Ana Huang
The ‘Twisted Love’ series is where it all began for me. She is the reason I fell down the contemporary romance novel rabbit hole and the reason I LOVE a bad boy. sigh. She created my OG book boyfriends. Always, always love and Ana Huang book.
Emily Henry
The men are less toxic and more sincere. Emily Henry’s books are perfect for a rainy day, and I always love a happy ending. Her female leads are strong-minded women who are not afraid to be vulnerable. I find them very relatable as female characters go. You could argue that her books are the antithesis of Ana Huang’s books, maybe because the people are normal and not wealthy million/billionaires who probably need a hug.
Beth O’Leary
Beth O’Leary’s books are nothing but adorable. True, I didn’t love ‘The Switch’. I think the characters just really annoyed me. But her other books, ‘The Flat Share’ and ‘The Wake-up Call’, were adorable and just made me happy. As far as my ‘happy books’ go, I know I’m in for a treat when I pop one of O’Leary’s books open.
Ali Hazelwood
So these books were another BookTok recommendation and ones I actually enjoyed. Do I understand all the science chat? Nope, not one bit. But is it great fun to see women in STEM thriving (kinda), yes. It's nice to see smart, capable women thriving in very male-dominated fields. The romance is fun too, and just like the men we meet in works by Emily Henry, the men are sincere, helps that they’re hot too ;)
Elizabeth Helen
The ‘Beasts of the Briars’ is probably the wildest book series out of the lot. It is a ‘why choose’ romance series which we love, because it’s all about fated mates, magic, curses, kings, queens, gladiators and knights in shining armour. At this point in the series, I’m wondering what fantasy trope isn’t included? Luckily, the dynamic duo Elizabeth Helen have another set of books coming out soon, now that their current series is coming to an end. Looking forward to diving into that book when it’s released!
